For my second practice shoot, my aim was to improve on the weaknesses I noticed in my first shoot. This time, I had a clearer idea of the visual style I wanted for my short film, particularly in terms of framing, shot types and lighting.
During the shoot, I experimented with close-up and medium shots to capture the character’s emotions while also showing their environment. I also paid more attention to composition, placing the character slightly off-centre in some shots to create negative space. This could later represent the presence of the AI and also visually show the character’s sense of isolation.
Compared to my first practice shoot, the shots looked more planned and intentional. However, there are still areas that need improvement, such as camera stability and maintaining consistent lighting.
Overall, this practice shoot was more successful and helped me better understand how to visually present my ideas before filming the final product.
