Objective

This post explores the visual design of Arvin, the holographic AI character from my Short film. The goal is to construct a believable yet subtly artificial appearance that reflects his dual nature, seemingly human, yet emotionally programmed.


Character Overview

  • Name: Arvin
  • Age (appearance): 18–20
  • Role: AI hologram companion, represents idealised, programmed love.
  • Personality Traits: Calm, composed, emotionally intelligent, slightly mysterious.

Appearance & Visual Traits

  • Age Range Look: 18–20
  • Skin Tone: Light-medium, with slightly glowing undertones.
  • Eyes: Gentle but overly symmetrical, hint of artificiality.
  • Facial Expression: Calm, rarely blinks quickly; subtle, consistent half-smile.



Fashion & Costume Design
  • Flashbacks (with Anaya): Plain white t-shirts, light shirts, denim jacket. 
  • Neutral tones symbolising purity, safety.
  • End Scene (shutdown): White shirt 
    • Represents deactivation and fading presence


Accessories:

  • Wears a simple wristband, later revealed to be part of his interface.
  • Shoes are always clean, symbolic of his perfection and lack of physical grounding.





Reflection

Arvin's design centres around emotional perfection and aesthetic control, everything about him feels too curated, from his posture to his clothes.
